Interview recorded on June 8th 2012 during Symfony Live Paris conference.
Since when do you know and use Symfony?
Well, I actually started to use it 2 ½ years ago when Symfony2 was announced at Symfony Live Conference in 2010. I first started to use Symfony for developments of course and then I joined the community. Now, I'm still using it for developments but I also am getting more and more involved in Symfony evolution process.
You're espacially involved in Redis development. What exactly is Redis?
Redis is an in-memory database, simple key value store but a little bit more advanced than memory cash. It opens up various use cases for performances optimization of websites. I didn't have much feedback yet...people who have joined the project are being shy (!), but I think Redis could be very useful in Symfony.
What is your feeling about Symfony Live conference?
I think it's always a lot of fun. Symfony Live Conference is quite cool! Especially because it's dedicated to one community. During jeopardy session for example, private jokes are understood by everyone! In more general conferences, most people wouldn't understand, there wouldn't have the same reactions. And obviously, I really enjoy seeing usual friends as well. So I'll sure be back next year!
