Oro Inc. recently certified with SensioLabs its flagship e-commerce application: OroCommerce, based on Symfony. OroCommerce has brilliantly passed the Application Certification, which is an indicator of the high quality of its code base.

What is OroCommerce?

OroCommerce is the flagship application by the Open-Source pioneer company Oro, Inc. OroCommerce is one of the best e-commerce platforms for B2B companies.

Oro also designed a marketplace management platform, OroMarketplace, a multi-channel CRM solution OroCRM, and OroPlatform: a solution for custom business applications. As the original creators of Magento, Oro’s founders have strong records in the eCommerce industry.

How Oro got its Application certified?

SensioLabs provides many expert services and solutions for companies using PHP and Symfony like Oro. When you have achieved the design, development, and deployment, you can ask SensioLabs to certify your codebase. It is about checking that your application fits the current best practices and complies with critical security and performance requirements. We call this solution the Application Certification by SensioLabs.

In the Application Certification of OroCommerce, we examined the entire OroCommerce code base, focusing primarily on the CMSBundle component. CMS Bundle is a key element in OroCommerce. Thanks to CMS Bundle, back-office users can create and modify all types of pages, including landing pages, product pages, category pages, and customer login pages. Developers can also design and edit content blocks and widgets with CMS Bundle.

A successful audit for OroCommerce

SensioLabs’ experts evaluated OroCommerce, analyzing reliability, maintainability, security, and performance. The code audit turned out to be very positive for OroCommerce, which passed the assessment with flying colors in all areas.

More specifically, our experts highlighted that Oro implemented the best tools in terms of control and quality. Thanks to it, the developers’ team can easily validate code and accept new contributions to its codebase. We were also pleased to notice that Oro strives to provide detailed technical documentation. This documentation covers many areas: from development and testing to release and automation tools.

The testimonies from SensioLabs and Oro

“We rarely see such quality code during our audits. Oro’s team can be proud, and their customers can be assured that they are using a best practices compliant code on Symfony that is both robust and reliable. It is a real pleasure for us to recognize OroCommerce as a key open source project within the Symfony ecosystem. We’re thrilled to see the Symfony framework being used as the foundation for such high-performance e-commerce applications.”

Ludovic Duval, SensioLabs’ General Manager

“Oro’s customers trust our products because they know we are committed to making them the best they can be, with full transparency and rigorous adherence to open source principles and development best practices.

The SensioLabs team’s validation of Oro’s code base and back-end infrastructure shows that we have created a solid foundation to support our customers’ digital growth. B2B customers need a customizable and robust platform. Oro is fully committed to providing the sustainable, flexible and stable tools they need.”
Dima Soroka, CTO of Oro
